William
W. Batoff, a well known national political figure, has over twenty-five
years experience as a leading political strategist. Mr. Batoff has
worked with a number of prominent political figures, including President
George W. Bush, former President Bill Clinton, former President
Jimmy Carter, former Vice President Walter Mondale, Governor Michael
Dukakis and Senator Edward Kennedy. He has also provided political
election analysis during appearances on numerous panels and television
programs.
Mr.
Batoff was one of the first national Democrats to commit to
Governor George W. Bush's Presidential campaign for the White
House, serving as a surrogate speaker and campaigner on numerous
occasions. He also aided in the formation of Americans for
Bush. The group's mission was to bring Democrats, Republicans
and Independents together in support of President Bush and
his view that we all need to set a "new, civil and positive
tone in Washington." As a result of his tireless efforts,
Mr. Batoff was appointed to President Bush's Transition Advisory
Committee and as an honorary member to the 54th Inaugural
Committee. President George W. Bush appointed Mr. Batoff to
the United States Delegation to attend the Inauguration of
President Lucio Gutierrez Borbua of Ecuador on January 15th,
2003. In March 2003, President Bush appointed Mr. Batoff to
the Advisory Committee of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation
(PBGC), for a term of 3 years.
Mr.
Batoff's familiarity with decision-makers at local, state and
federal levels is the result of his numerous political affiliations.
From 1975 to the present, Mr. Batoff served in over twenty-five
political capacities. In addition to his involvement with Americans
for Bush, Mr. Batoff was a member of the Clinton-Gore 96 Campaign
National Board, and Chairman of the Singel for Governor Committee,
State of Pennsylvania. Other notable affiliations include his
participation as a Member of the National Finance Committee of
the Clinton for President Campaign (1992); Mid-Atlantic Regional
Finance Chairman of the Harkin for President Campaign (1992);
Finance Committee Member of the Rendell for Mayor Campaign (1992);
Eastern Tally Event Coordinator of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign
Committee (1991); Finance Chairman of the Governor Casey for Reelection
Campaign (1990); Member of the Dukakis National Finance Board
(1988); National Vice Chairman of the Presidential and Democratic
National Victory Fund of the Democratic National Committee (1987-88);
and Member of the Leadership Council of the Democratic Senate
Campaign Committee (1986). In 1988, Mr. Batoff helped to institute
the nation's first National Political Debate Electronic Audience
Response Poll.
Some
of Mr. Batoff's other activities include serving as: Finance Chairman
of the Robert Casey for Governor campaign (1986); Finance Chairman
of the Edward Rendell for Governor campaign (1986); Chairman of
the 1986 Democratic Congressional Dinner Committee (1986); Member
of the Executive Finance Committee of the Fund for a Democratic
Majority (1985); Co-Founder of IMPAC, an organization of National
Democratic Political Fundraisers (1985); and National Board Member
of the Mondale for President Committee (1984). In addition, Mr.
Batoff has assisted the fundraising efforts of numerous gubernatorial
and senatorial campaigns, including those of Governor Tom Ridge,
Governor Tom Carper, former Governor James Florio, Senator John
Glenn, Vice President Al Gore, Senator Bob Graham, Senator Tom
Harkin, Senator John Kerry, Senator Chuck Robb, Senator Arlen
Specter and Senator George Mitchell.
In
1980, Mr. Batoff was appointed Federal Commissioner for the Presidential
Scholars Commission by President Jimmy Carter. Prior to 1980,
Mr. Batoff served as an Appointee to the National Finance Council
of the Democratic National Committee (1977); Financial Chairman
for the State of Pennsylvania for the Carter-Mondale Presidential
Committee (1979); and Member of the Official Panama Delegation
to conclude the Panama Treaty (1979). Mr. Batoff accompanied Vice
President Walter Mondale to Panama on this historic trip.
In
addition to his political involvement, Mr. Batoff has over
thirty years of business experience. Mr. Batoff owned and
operated a Title Insurance Agency, Pioneer of Philadelphia,
from 1972 until 1986, when he sold it to First American Title
Insurance Co., then worked as their consultant until 1998.
Currently, Mr. Batoff owns Batoff Enterprises Real Estate
in Philadelphia, Pa., and serves as President and Director
of Acquire Investment Inc. Consultants, trading as William
W. Batoff Associates. Mr. Batoff is a founder of First Republic
Bank of Philadelphia and its holding company Republic First
Bank Corp. He is currently a director of both entities. He
serves on the bank's Audit Committee and is Chairman of the
holding company's Options Committee. In addition, Mr. Batoff
was elected to the Board of Directors of the First Bank of
Delaware for a three year term. Mr. Batoff holds a Pennsylvania
and New Jersey Real Estate Brokers License and also holds
a Pennsylvania and New Jersey Title Insurance License. He
formerly held a Pennsylvania Security License, a Life Insurance
License, and a Health and Accident Insurance License. Other
past experience includes serving as President and Director
of United Real Estate, Inc., and as a Partner of Jarrett-Batoff
Realty.
Mr.
Batoff is also active in a wide variety of civic-related activities.
In 1976, he was appointed as Honorary Assistant District Attorney
for the City of Philadelphia and in 1979 he was appointed to the
Philadelphia Planning Commission. In 1986 he accompanied Senator
Gary Hart to Egypt, Jordon and Israel as a civilian observer of
the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee. In 1988, he visited
China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Thailand as a member of an official
Trade Delegation. In 1990, he was appointed to the Cabinet of
the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, during which time he
was responsible for bringing Yitzhak Rabin to Philadelphia to
address the Council. In 1992, he was elected to the Board of Directors
of the Geriatric Medical Center and in 1989, Mr. Batoff was also
featured in the 1990 edition of Who's Who in America and included
in a 1988 Forbes magazine listing of the nation's "Top Sixty Political
Fundraisers."
Mr.
Batoff, is a veteran of the Korean War and served in Kunsan Korea
with the United States Air Force and is a recipient of the Republic
of Korea War Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean
Service Medal with one Bronze Star and National Defense Service
Medal. He is the former President of the Board of Trustees of
the Philadelphia State Hospital, as well as the past President
of the Port of History Museum in Philadelphia. He was a Member
of the Executive Board of the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai
B'rith (Eastern Pennsylvania-Delaware Region), and received the
Man of the Year Award in 1989 from the Jewish National Fund. A
graduate of the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, Mr. Batoff
also completed coursework in real estate law and conveyancing.
In 1986, Mr. Batoff served as Visiting Lecturer of Political Fundraising
at the University of Pennsylvania.
