Scott
J. Fields is a partner with Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel
LLP. He is head of the firm's Intellectual Property Group and a
member of the firm's Business and Finance Department.
Mr. Fields started and headed the Intellectual Property practice
group at Klehr, Harrison, Harvey, Branzburg & Ellers, LLP where
he managed, developed and supervised a diverse docket of domestic
and international intellectual property matters. He has developed
a recognized expertise in Internet related intellectual property
and related matters while representing major Internet related clients,
including major regional ISPs, in a wide variety of applications
including online calendaring, banking, product testing and reverse
auctions. He has prepared and prosecuted Internet and business method
patents and prepared a substantial number of Agreements in all areas
of Internet and electronic commerce as well as handled domain and
related trademark/servicemark disputes.
Mr. Fields is himself an inventor, patent holder and entrepreneur.
He is the CEO of two Internet start-ups, including Feebid.com, the
Internet's first RFP system for matching Intellectual Property clients
with attorneys.
He has successfully filed and prosecuted nearly 800 patents and
trademarks. His experience includes patent and trademark preparation
and prosecution in the electronics, electro-mechanical and software
arts, patent and trademark licensing, counseling and litigation.
He also served as Staff Counsel for the United States International
Trade Commission, Washington, D.C., office of Unfair Import Investigations.
Mr. Fields received his Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude,
from Pennsylvania State University, in Economics; and a Bachelor
of Science degree from Temple University in Electrical Engineering.
He received his Juris Doctor from The National Law Center of The
George Washington University; Moot Court, Phi Alpha Delta.
Mr. Fields is a member of the American Bar Association; Patent,
Trademark and Copyright Law Section. He is also a member of the
Philadelphia Bar Association (Business Law and Cyberlaw Committees)
; Montgomery County Bar Association; American Intellectual Property
Law Association; Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association;
Licensing Executives Society; Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers and the Anti-Piracy Network.
Mr. Fields has also authored numerous articles, including, "Federal

Mr. Fields further served as Special Advisor to the Government of
Ukraine on Intellectual Property Matters; 1995-1997. He is a frequent
lecturer and served as the featured speaker at the 1998 Licensing
Industry Merchandising Association (LIMA) Conference in New York
City entitled, "Legal Implications of Internet Licensing" as well
as the 1999 Offshore Funds Summit in New York City entitled, "Financial
and Business Method Patents."
Mr. Fields was recently named the Legal Editor of the Intellectual
Property ezine of Patentcafe.com, of Sacramento, CA, the nation's
fastest growing Intellectual Property portal.
He is admitted to practice in the United States Patent and Trademark
Office (Reg. No. 32,857); United States Court of Appeals for the
Federal Circuit; United States Claims Court; United States District
Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Pennsylvania; United
States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan; Supreme
